Debt Relief for South African Students

Debt Relief for South African Students

An education is punted as the key to a better life and future, and in most instances not everyone is fortunate enough to gain financial help for their studies from their family. This leaves students to have to find other options for paying towards their studies.

You’ll need to find a study loan solution to meet your tuition fee requirements throughout your educational journey. Such as gaining student loans, this is also a form of debt relief. And for South African students there are quite a few options you can look into such as:

The Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU)

NMMU is committed to ensuring that any student that’s academically deserving and financially needy should be given the opportunity to study further through financial support in collaboration with the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS). It will support those who qualify for NSFAS funding but are not assisted, and as many students as possible who fall outside of this criteria. NMMU cover tuition and accommodation fees.

And it’s debt relief for students as you’re taking out a study loan for your studies, which you’ll be relieved of paying off until you’re employed where you’ll be expected to pay back 60% of your debt.

NMMU also offers financial assistance to full-time students in the form of bursaries, merit awards and scholarships.

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS)

NSFAS is a loan and bursary scheme funded by the Department of Higher Education and Training. It’s there for those who don’t have the financial means to fund their studies or cannot access bank funding, study loans or bursaries.

You can apply for NSFAS study loan or bursary through the Financial Aid Bureaus at the tertiary institution where you’d like to study or directly through the online application with the NSFAS.

Edu-loan

Edu-loan offer financing for all levels of tuition, outstanding balances, registration fees and study-related items and accommodation while you’re studying. The accommodation cover allows you to focus on the books and not worry about where you’ll be staying.

As well as other relevant study equipment whether you need a loan to cover your textbooks, laptop, a tablet or other study related equipment. You can get provided with that through study tools.
