When it comes to the richest black people in Africa, there is quite a list. So let’s take a look at the top black billionaires for 2015. There are 11 black billionaires in the world, compared to 9 just a year ago. The richest black person in the world is cement tycoon Aliko Dangote from Nigeria, with an estimated fortune of $15.7 billion.
Aliko still remains the richest black piffling the world despite losing close to $10 billion as a result of falling stock prices in March last year. He is 57 years old and made his fortune trading in sugar, cement and flower. He is cement company, Dangote Cement, is the largest cement manufacturer in Africa and has a market capitalisation of $15 billion. He is also currently building an oil refinery that will be completed in 2016 and is expected to have a refining capacity of 400,000 barrels a day.
He is followed by Saudi-Ethiopian construction magnate Mohammed Al-Amoudi, who is worth $10.8 billion. American basketball legend Michael Jordan and Nigerian energy magnate Femi Otedola also joined the list this year. Then of course there is Isabel dos Santos from Angola as well as American media mogul Oprah Winfrey. Folorunsho Alakija is one of the few black female billionaires on the list.
Oprah Winfrey is a well-known public figure and TV personality in the United States, and at an age of 61. She is currently worth $3.2 billion. She appeared in various soap opera us as well as movies prior to her career as a TV personality and is currently ranked number 12 on the list of most powerful woman of 2015.
